Creating A New Era of Exciting Mobile Applications
----Sky-Mobi and Nazara Collaborate on Wireless Application Promotion in India
Founded in 2000, Nazara, one of India leading mobile entertainment companies, announced its cooperation with Sky-Mobi on the wireless application promotion in India.
As the biggest country in South Asia, India has the second largest population (more than 1.1billion by the end of 2009) in the world as well. The average GDP growth rate has been above 7.0% since 1997, which is the second highest growth rate among major economies in the world.
While India is marching on the way to a rosy future, the wireless communication market has been expanding rapidly in the past few years. There are 545 million subscribers in the market according to the latest data provided by Central Intelligence Agent. However, voice and simple date services, such as short message, are the main applications, which are experiencing a decreasing ARPU while the market competition is getting keener and keener. Basically, the main reason is that most mobile phones available in Indian market are non-smart phone based, which adopt hardware platforms with great differences and make the software compatibility impossible. Is there any way out of this dilemma and enliven the whole market? The increasing market share of cell phones made in China makes it possible.
Around 40% market share is taken up by Chinese mobile phones in Indian and 6 to 10 million newly imported mobile phones are available each month. According to the forecast of Barhti Airtel, one of the top operators in India, the market share of Chinese mobile phones will reach up to 60% and 80% in the next two years.
Founded in 2005, Sky-Mobi is engaged in solving the compatibility issue mentioned above and providing various applications, such as IMs, daily life assistances and games etc. Sky-Mobi has also achieved strong and future oriented cooperation with most Chinese cell phone producers, which enable Sky-Mobi products to cover 30% of Chinese mobile phones exported to Indian and an 80% penetration rate can be expectable by 2012.
Moreover, Nazara, which can cover 95% of Indian operators, is focused on providing a range of brand and original mobile content that is highly relevant to the culturally diverse consumer base in the country, such as Boollywood videos, religious applications and so on. An International Data Center equipped with wireless applications from both sides will be set up in India to fulfill the requirement of India market.
Sky-Mobi and Nazara will be cooperating closely in providing breathtaking applications and enlivening customer aspirations.
